6.60 miles with the boys this morning. We went from the high school and then ran out into the desert. Lots of fun.

I got out late this evening and did a nice 6 mile run through Ivins. I spooked a lady walking with her horse on the road. She yelled, "Hey, I have a horse buddy." I said, "Sorry, I am running on the road. Don't horses belong in fields?" She was still upset. My bad for running on the road.

8 miles this morning with the team. We went over to Webb Hill and did repeats up to the gate. I ended up doing 5 with the top boys. It was a great workout for everyone. I am really excited about the team this year. It should be a fun year.

Katey had a bunch of things going on so I took Norah in the jogging stroller this afternoon for a 4 mile run around Ivins. It was a little hot but slightly windy so it felt pretty good. I think she enjoyed it.

9 miles in the morning. I looped around Webb Hill with the team and then went over to Hidden Valley Park. Nice morning for a run.

We had family pictures this evening by the Ivins Reservoir. I took my running clothes and ran home from the reservoir through Kayenta. I need to run out here more so I can cool off in the water. Felt good throughout even though it was a little hilly.

6 miles in the morning. Nice and easy over to Hidden Valley and then to the Spectrum. Now we go up to our running camp in Hatch.

6 miles running in Hatch this evening. It was nice running at 7000 feet in 70 degree weather. I loved it. I think the kids enjoyed it as well. Good solid trail running.

I woke up early this morning and went for a nice 6 miler around Hatch on the trails. I had to wear a long sleeve shirt since it was pretty cold. Gorgeous morning. The team then did just over 3 miles via a relay race which included .30 mile laps. It was a lot of fun.

We drove up above Tropic Reservoir and ran back down. We started at 9000 feet which kind of took everyone's breath away. We finished just over 6 miles for the run and then iced the legs in the reservoir. It was quite cold. Solid day of running for the team.

Not enough time to get more miles in this morning since this was the last day of our camp. We went and run in Red Canyon which is close to Bryce Canyon. We started on a trail and then it turned pretty rocky. Coach Goulding said that it appeared to be washed out. I took the varsity boys up the mountain by bushwhacking. Quite the adventure to finish off the camp. I will miss running in the cooler weather and then sitting in the cold river and reservoir. Great camp though that motivated lots of kids.

6.10 miles this morning from the high school over towards Little Valley. I was not able to run anymore today because I had an all day conference and then the cross country parent meeting. This got me really excited for the year. I cannot wait to see what happens with the team.

Tempo Tuesdays are back in session. I met up with Clyde, Dave, Steve, and Paul H. for our run this morning. We did a little bit of a warmup and then did 6 tempo miles and then finished with a cool down. During the warm up I rolled my ankle in a pothole so I was not feeling that great. Once the tempo started I felt a little better. My splits were: 6:05, 5:43, 5:40, 5:34, 5:27, and 5:22. It was faster than I wanted to go but I felt pretty good throughout the run. Nothing fancy but a nice way to start the morning. The temps were under 70 degrees which made the run kind of chilly.

I ran 6 miles this afternoon. I did a little before practice and then ran with the team pushing Norah because Katey had an appointment. It is always fun pushing her.

Solid day of running.

Got up early and ran with Clyde from his house. We looped around Stone Cliff and then on to the trail. We then looped around Little Valley and back to Clyde's house. The temps were a little warm this morning. 7:06/mile.

3 miles in the morning over to The Spectrum with the kids.

8.3 miles in the afternoon with the team. We ran by Ft. Pearce Park with PVHS, DHS, and HHS kids to look at a possible new region course. I think the kids liked it besides the fact the grass was extremely long. I think we might have something there. I then did a little more after practice.

Woke up early to run with the club. We took the shuttle up the marathon course and then ran back down. We kept it steady right from the get go. I am pacing Steve this year in the marathon so we decided to run together. We ran the first 11 steady and then pushed the last 9 miles. I wasn't feeling good about 10 miles in and threw up six times right in a row. I don't know if I was dehydrated or if I ate something bad. Steve looked at me with shock in his beautiful eyes and encouraged me to move forward with the run. I couldn't have finished the run without the One Trick Pony. You can look at Steve's splits for the last 9 miles. I let Steve do most of the pacing and I pushed him up the hills.

6:16/mile overall.

4 miles this morning around Ivins. Back to the early runs now that school starts today.

8.2 miles in the hot afternoon. I ran with some of the girls today to give them a little bit of a push. I was happyw with what they did. We looped around Webb Hill. I then tacked on a few miles after practice. Very hot today. Yikes!

15 miles this morning with Clyde. We were planning on doing tempo but the body did not want anything to do with it. The nice thing was that Clyde felt the same way. We pushed a little bit but nothing fancy. Just over 7:00/mile overall. We were both pretty thirsty after wards. He was gracious enough to make me a refreshing drink.

3 miles this afternoon. I did the warm up and cool down with everyone but also did a few repeats with the boys. It was hot out but the team had a great workout today. Very happy about that.

3 miles this morning over to The Spectrum with the kids. We are having a great turnout for the morning practices.

7.10 miles in the afternoon with the team. I ran with the boys out along the Arizona Strip. Yes, it was really hot but they did well. I cannot believe how hot it is this week. I hope it cools down soon.

3 miles in the morning with the team.

5 miles this afternoon which included doing some of the speed workout on the track with the team. We did a couple 1000s and 200s to get the legs moving. The team keeps getting stronger and stronger each day. Another scorcher!

10 miles with the club tonight. Ran with Mike, Dustin, Billy, Clyde, and Aaron. A really hot run. Kept it easy for the first little bit and then picked it up at the end with Aaron. Solid day of running. I am tired now.

Up at 3:45 to start the run at 4:15 with Clyde and Aaron at Clyde's house. We went over to the Bloomington Loop for 9 miles and then came back the same way. It was nice and "cool" that early with the temps right at 84 degrees. We kept the pace honest and ended up averaging 6:44/mile. Had to be done early due to the cross country meet. The team did well today. I am happy with what I am seeing. Slowly getting better each week.

Tempo Tuesday with Dave and Clyde. We did our regular route. 3 mile warm up, 6 miles of tempo, and a 3.5 mile cool down. It was a little warm but I felt pretty good on the tempo section and ended up averaging 5:35/mile. Happy with the effort. Now I get to look forward to running in the heat this afternoon with the team. Yeah!

6.30 miles with repeats on the Bloomington Hills North Park grass. If region is going to be there, I figure we might as well run on it every now and then. I pushed the girls this afternoon and they did very well. Solid day of running.

10 miles in the morning.

I ran 7 miles over into Bloomington and then back along the trail before I met up with the team to run an easy 3 miles over towards Little Valley. Solid morning.

7.50 miles in the beastly hot afternoon. We ran over to Little Valley and did 4 x 800m grass repeats. I ran with the boys and it is nice to see how well they are pushing each other. We then "cooled" down back to the high school. This weather is killing the kids. They are troopers for pushing through this.

12.50 miles in the morning.

Ran with Steve, Dave, and Dustin (recent BYU graduate) this morning for our Tuesday Tempo. Nice 3 mile warm up, 6 miles of tempo, and 3.5 mile cool down. Dustin and I averaged 5:32/mile for the 6 mile section of tempo. It felt pretty good. I didn't feel that great after wards and ended up chucking a little. Yummy!

6.10 miles in the afternoon with some of the girls. I did a warm up with the team and then did a fartlek workout. The team did really well with this. Hopefully they can use this week to recover and get into September continually improving each work. Should be exciting.
