9.50 miles in the morning.

9 miles in the evening.

I ran with the cross country team starting at Bloomington Park and then going on part of the trail over towards the Dixie Center.  I then ran the loop around Bloomington to get some more miles in.  It was extremely humid this morning.  Ugh!

I met at the Dixie Center for the club run this evening.  It rained a little on us which made the run very enjoyable and relaxing.  The cooler temperatures made it perfect weather for a run tonight.

Race: 1st Annual Chelsi's Run (3.05 Miles) 00:00:00
Total Distance

10.85 miles in the morning.

8.55 miles in the evening.

I ran the Bloomington loop with the cross country team this morning and then added on some more miles by running out to SunRiver and back.  Once again, another very humid morning.

I ran an easy 3 miles out towards Ivins before Katey and I headed over to run in the 1st Annual Chelsi's Run.  If you are not aware of her story, she was a heptathlete at BYU and tragically passed away in a car accident a month ago.  They did this run in order to raise money for a scholarship that they will be giving out each out.  The run started at 10pm and there were a ton of people running.  There were probably close to 600 people total.  It was a great sight to see.  I wanted to just get some quality miles in this evening so I wasn't worried about my time.  Clyde and I did a 1.5 mile warmup to get the legs loosened up.  Clyde, Hayden, and me went out and ran the entire thing together.  We hit a 5:00/mile for number 1 and then slowed down a bit just to not trash the legs for Saturday.  It was a fun little 2 lap course.  The three of us crossed the line together.  The paper got a nice picture of us so we were able to advertise for the running center.  This was a ton of fun and will look forward to running this every year.  We then made sure we did a mile cooldown.  3.05 miles in 16:23.

8 miles in the morning.

5 miles in the evening.

I ran an easy 8 miles this morning.  I was a little tired due to getting home so late last night.  I got a nap in after I was done running though.  That always helps out a lot.

I went over to the track after working at the running store and met up with Eric for a basic speed workout.  We ran 8x400m with 200m recovery in between.  I did a mile warmup and then a mile cooldown afterwards.  I just wanted to get some good turnover and not push it to much.  I hit all of them between :67 and :74.  Never felt like I was pushing that much but it felt good to get the legs moving.  It was great talking with Eric a little bit and getting to know him.  He works graveyard shifts and I applaud him.  I did this through college and know exactly how tiring they can be.

I ran all my miles this morning with the cross country team.  We went out towards SunRiver.  It is nice seeing the team push each other more and more everyday.  I am really looking forward to this season.  Club run tonight.

Nice and easy run with the club tonight.  Had to listen to Clyde about his IBS problems for the last couple miles!

2 miles in the evening.

Nice and relaxed run with some of the kids on the cross country team.  I am happy to report that some sophomores are really stepping up to become leaders.  I like what this holds for the future.  Probably will do some shakeout miles this evening when we get up to Bryce.

I got some dinner in me and then an easy 2 miles around the beautiful town of Tropic to help the food start moving south.

Race: Bryce Canyon Half Marathon (13.1 Miles) 01:07:11, Place overall: 1
Total Distance
16.60

I was really shooting for a 1:07 something today during the half marathon.  I wasn't too worried about pace but was more concerned about hitting the time.  I knew I would have to push the pace a little but I felt really good and ready to do so.  Here are the splits:

1- 5:15 - went out feeling really relaxed

2- 5:26 - a little slow but I knew I would get it back on the downhill

3- 4:52 - the kid going to BYU goes down the hill like a mad man

4- 4:54 - BYU kid is still 200 yards ahead

5- 4:59 - running with Dave and the Italian guy

6- 5:04 - course starts to level off and where the race really begins

7- 5:00 - I catch the BYU kid and then lead the rest of the race

8- 5:05

9- 5:17

10- 5:12

11- 5:13

12- 5:18

13- 5:14

.1- :23

I wasn't feeling all that great the last 2 miles but I told myself to keep pushing and really dig deep.  I was really happy with the time and effort today.  5:08/mile overall.  I got plenty of fluids in me and then did a cooldown with the guys.  This was much needed.  I was happy with the time.  It was 2:19 faster then last year.  Suprisingly now that I am back home the legs aren't that bad.  We will see how they feel tomorrow though!  I need to really gear up and get some serious training in for Twin Cities.  I am thinking of doing the TOU Half this year and then probably be done with races until the marathon.

It was really fun seeing my little sister and Katey come in afterwards.  They both ran the half marathon this morning.  Katey ran the race in 2:11 and change.  Their is something about a women that runs.  Katey is a huge support and is nice for me to go and run in with her.
