6.00 in the morning.

6.00 in the afternoon.

I was a little tired this morning but I got in a good 6 miles.  I felt really good afterwards.  I am making sure that I stretch before and after my runs.  It seems to make me more loose and the legs are not as tight.  After work I went and was feeling really good so I pushed it.  I averaged 6:04 pace for the entire run.  Their were 3 decent hills and the wind was blowing a bit so I was pleased with my pace.  I am going to make sure I start doing speed workouts this week.  I did them a lot in the past and haven't done much lately.  If anyone has suggestions, please let me know.  I was happy with both runs today.

6.00 in the afternoon.

I had a good run out towards Fremont High School and was going along great until on the way back I had to stop because of a train.  I wish I lived out in the country.  I didn't push it to hard and the run felt great.  I was up in Ogden Valley and did another 6 in the afternoon.  It was overcast and the wind was blowing quite a bit so the pace was slow (6:52 overall).  It was nice not running in really hot weather.  I really hope it rains.  We could use the moisture!

I did all 12 miles together today.  The weather was terrible.  The rain was coming down hard and sideways with the wind blowing all over the place.  I decided to stick to the treadmill today instead of killing myself outside in the middle of the week.  I started out at a 7:30 pace and moved all the way up to a 6:39 pace at the end.  It was good putting all the miles together today.  I was watching Sportscenter and then the rerun of Scripps National Spelling Bee came on.  I have come to the conclusion that I am not smarter than a 12 year old.  Those kids are smart!  Serrefine was the winning word.  May I have the definition please?  I am glad it is raining because we needed the moisture.  Hopefully I can get back outside tomorrow.

I did 6 miles this morning.  I started out at a 7:30 pace and did that for 2 miles and then moved up to a 6:18 pace for the last couple of miles.  It was a nice run.  I am glad that the rain is clearing up.  I am going to go and do some 400's at the track this evening after work.  I am planning on doing 12.  The rain was really nice to have but I am looking forward to more beautiful sunshine the rest of the weekend!

I got out and did some interval work on the track.  It was great!  It has been a while since I have done it.  I started out with 2 miles to warm up and then hit it hard.  I was shooting for all under 1:20.  Here they go as follows:

1- 1:11                     7- 1:14

2- 1:14                     8- 1:15

3- 1:10                     9- 1:13

4- 1:12                     10- 1:13

5- 1:10                     11- 1:12

6- 1:12                     12- 1:15

I was really pleased with my times.  I felt really good.  I did each 400 with a 200 meter recovery jog in between.  I finished up with a mile cool down and then called it a night.  I will make sure I do this once a week.

I did two easy recovery runs today due to the speed work from last night.  I did 6 miles in the morning and then another 4 in the afternoon.  I am doing the Cache Valley Biatholon with my father-in-law tomorrow.  I am running the 5 miles and then he is biking the 16 or so miles.  I did not want to push it to much.  My father-in-law wants to do really well tomorrow.  We shall see!

I did the Cache Valley Biathlon with my father-in-law today.  I ran the 5 miles in just under 28 minutes.  It was a nice VO2 max run for me.  I came in second and felt good considering I was going to do another 10 afterwards.  My father-in-law is close to 60 years old and biked 16.5 miles in 49 minutes.  Our total time was 1:17:10 or so.  I think we took 15th place overall.  My father-in-law had tears in his eyes because he beat a lot of younger hot shots on their bikes.  He has a bad neck and usually rides a recumbent bike but this year he did the ride on an upright.  A little side note.  My wife did the whole thing by herself and did awesome.  It was her real first race ever.  I am so proud of her.  The race was in Wellsville so I ran from there all the way back into Logan.  My legs were feeling good so I pushed a few miles at threshold pace.  The entire run was at a 6:07 pace.  It was a great run.  I thought I was going slower but I was cruising along for a while at marathon pace.  I think the speed workouts are helping.  It was a great day of running and biking for the Fielding family!  I was really happy to hit 75 miles this week.  It felt good.
