Nice and warm today (64 degrees!)  I ran out into Kayenta which is nice and hilly so I was curious to see how it would go.  I ran just over 10 miles at 6:33/mile.  I had 2 VRPBs and helped a little old lady find her dog groomer's house.  It was quite an eventful fun.

20 minutes of yoga later in the evening with Katey.

I started get a head cold last night and it didn't get better through out the night.  I couldn't sleep and I guess I kept Katey up tossing and turning.  I bagged the run this morning and drank a lot of fluids throughout the day to see if it got any better.  The weather was nice but I decided to hit the treadmill inside to see if I could sweat it out.  I did 2 at 7:03/mile, 2 at 6:00/mile, 2 at 5:27/mile, 1 at 5:12/mile, and 1 mile cool down barefoot.  All the football players were looking at me like I was crazy but oh well.  I hope I cleared everything out.  I felt good throughout the run but will have to wait and see how everything feels tomorrow.

Still a head cold today and only a little better.  I ran with some of the boys this afternoon.  We ran from the school over into Bloomington and then back along the trail.  We looped into Bloomington Hills and then back up along the golf course.  A little windy today but it felt great to have some nice sunshine again.  7:10/mile.

Hopefully I get better by Saturday.  We will see.  I might just use it as a nice training run.  I will have to see how the next two days go.

6 miles in the afternoon with the kids at the high school.  I had the team doing 1000m repeats on the track but I helped a boy who is coming back from injury with a little workout.  Did a few pick ups but nothing crazy.  7:18/mile.

9 miles at the club run.  Good to run with Dave, Clyde, and Dustin.  Nice weather and ran the from the DC and did part of the course backwards.  Kept the conversation nice and averaged 7:09/mile.  Nice way to end the day.

Race: St. George Half Marathon (13.1 Miles) 01:14:10, Place overall: 8

Ran the half today and was not sure how it was going to go because of the head cold all week and lack of speed training.  I was shooting for 1:12-1:13 with not feeling 100% and felt like I could handle that.

The gun went off and just kept everything nice and relaxed.  I felt good through the first lap and was running mainly with Dave and Clyde.  I extended a slight lead of only a couple seconds and hit mile 9.5 and my nose was clogged and I could feel the effects of the head cold really kicking in.  I was right on pace through 10 with what I wanted today but the last 5k wasn't happening.  I wanted to be done but I decided to push through this.  To add injury to insult I had to maneuver my way through runners on the 2nd lap which made for quite an interesting finish.

I was happy to finish and push through the yucky feel of being sick.  Happy to see many other bloggers run so well.

I need to get my butt in gear now.  No questions asked!
