I met up at the Hooper complex and went on a run with Steve and Clyde.  We did a 13 miler out towards the new airport and then around towards Blue Bunny and then back to the complex.  The hamstring was extra tight today.  I don't know what is going on.  It was mostly trail running so it was a nice change of scenery.  I am thinking about getting some gravity boots to help me out with this problem :)  What do you think Clyde?

Nice end to a decent week.  Katey comes back from her personal training conference in California tomorrow and has a lot of great new ideas to help me out with my running.  I will do some workouts with her giving me advice so hopefully it will help me out.  I am planning on doing the Snow Canyon 1/2 next week but will have to see how the hamstring feels.  It will be good to do a race again.

The hamstring was a little sore this morning due to April beating the crud out of it on Saturday afternoon.  It felt much better though and I know it will loosen up here soon.  Good run through Santa Clara this morning.

8 miles along the Snow Canyon Parkway.  I will have to get used to never seeing the sun again when I run.  With the time change I will mainly be running in the dark.  Yeah!

6 miles around Santa Clara Heights today.  Don't forget to vote.  Katey and I watched the SNL Presidential Bash and I had thought how spot on all the actors and actresses were with the presidential and vice presidential candidates.  Maverick!

Another fun run in the afternoon.  I got rained on a little bit and so I cut it a little short.  No worries.  Trying to keep the legs fresh for Saturday to see if anything good comes out of it.

Nothing to exciting once again except I was pretty cold this morning.  40+ degrees and I am complaining about the cold weather.  I thought I would never say that it my lifetime!

A quick 6 miles this afternoon.  I pushed the pace the last 2 miles.  This felt good.  Couldn't go longer due to family activities for the rest of the night.

Another cold morning.  Still keeping this week fairly light and easy due to the race on Saturday.  It should be fun!

Fun club run this evening.  Good conversation about the joys of life and everything else that goes with it.  I was going to add on some more at the end with Clyde and Dave but I friends in town from up north.  Cold weather!

Perfect weather for a race and I am glad that I did it.  My goals going into this were not to worry that much about pace but run on feel and see how the legs would handle some speed.  I haven't done any fast stuff in over a month.

The race started off fast due the steep downhill.  I went out and about a mile into it I heard footsteps right behind me.  It was Tony Jones.  This was his first half marathon and said he was going to pace off of me.  We talked about him running at Utah State and SUU.  We had good conversation throughout the entire race.  He told me to take off because he wasn't feeling that great but I told him I had nothing to gain by blowing away from him.  It was fun to run with somebody.  I kept it relaxed and felt great throughout the entire race.

We came down Snow Canyon State Park and then went back up the West Canyon Trail for about 2 miles of dirt and then came back down.  It was a nice change of scenery but the legs slipped a couple times.  Tony stayed with me right until the end where I kicked it in once we reached the high school.

The course was a touch short but I was happy with the time.  I averaged 5:23/mile overall.  My legs felt good and I was really happy about that.  Katey is going to give me some strength exercises to help me with my leg strength and also other core exercises.  I am excited to see what will happen.  I am most likely going to do the Painter's Half Marathon in January but I will see how I feel over the next little while.  No sense of racing anymore races for the rest of the year.

Congrats to all who ran today.  It was fun meeting some new bloggers for the first time.

I was sore from the race on Saturday so I slept in this morning.  I ran an easy 7 miles this evening and then Katey put me through one of her workouts.  It mainly dealt with my core and working on strengthening my lower muscles.  I need to work on making my hamstrings stronger.  The legs felt not as stiff later this evening.

The quads and calves were not as sore as yesterday but still fairly tight.  I kept it nice and easy once again.  The weather was chilly so I had all the cold running gear on.  I could actually see my breath this morning.

My dad and I took a bunch of junk over to the dump this evening.  On the way back, he dropped me off in Washington and I ran over the Red Hill back to my parent's house.  It was quite dark and a little scary with how close some of the cars got but I was able to survive.  Nice run though.

A rough run this morning for some reason.  I was dragging.  Hopefully I get some energy back for this afternoon.

I decided to do a trail run this afternoon. I went out along the Santa Clara River and then back towards the backside of Ivins. It was relaxing and lots of fun. Trail runs seem to help the body and mind just get away from the grind of being on the roads.

I ran with Clyde and Steve this afternoon.  We started at the store and did the usual loop around town.  We extended a couple laps up near the store to get 9 for the run.  Perfect running weather and good conversation.  Nice day for a run.

I ran from the high school this afternoon and went down on to the Dixie Center Trail.  I then took it out towards Bloomington Hills and did the loop and then came back to the school.  It was nice and relaxed and not to bad.  It got pretty windy towards the end of the run.  I survived though!

I didn't have a ton of time this morning due to the in-laws in town.  We went out to a film festival in Sprindale which was pretty good.  I ran from my house and then went on a big loop down towards Sunbrook and then up on to the parkway and back.  Lots of people out and it was good to just run and not worry that much about the pace.

I am not going to do anything crazy with the mileage and workouts anytime soon.  I will slowly bump up the mileage and add a speed workout in probably in a week or two.  I will have to see how the legs feel.  I don't need to stress about anything big right now.

I was sicker than a dog yesterday with the stomach flu.  I slept all day and was not able to keep a lot of food in me.  I woke up feeling a little better so I only did 4 miles this morning.  I might do some more this afternoon if I feel any better.

Not a bad run this afternoon.  I ran from the school towards the Bloomington Hills Loop and then back.  I can't complain about the 70+ degree running weather.  Hamstring still a little tight for some reason.

A nice easy run around Santa Clara heights this morning.  A little cool but it felt really good running this morning.

I can't believe how wonderful the weather is this time of year down here.  I ran from the high school and then hopped on the Dixie Center trail and went the opposite direction of yesterday.  It was nice just keeping the pace nice and easy.  I am a little emotional typing up this entry because I saw gas for $1.97 coming home after the run.  Big tears in my eyes!  I really enjoy filling up the scooter now.

I slept in this morning because my legs were a little sore.  I ran 10 miles after work at a pretty good pace.  My hamstring felt good but I decided to have an emergency April visit to try and clear all the crude out of my leg.  I haven't been able to lengthen the stride for a while so I think she was able to take care of it today.  I was writhing in pain and didn't feel very good but I survived and I hope it helps.

6 hour drive last night from St. George to Logan.  We had to make a couple stops so our dog could run around use the bathroom.  I was beat last night.

I woke up and was excited to run with some of the Loganites.  I had all of my cold weather gear and I was really glad I brought it.

I ran 3.5 miles from the in-laws to Paul's house.  I met up with Paul, Cody, and Joe.  The four of us did the 12 mile Young Ward loop.  We finished the run on the famous Planet Walk.  It was my first time on it and the discussing quickly came up about getting Pluto on the walk.  I hope it happens.  Lots of frost on beards and eyebrows this morning.  I ran back to the in-laws to put me at 19 miles for the day.  It was a little longer than I planned on going but that is life.

Enjoyed my time up here in Logan.  It was fun running with these guys again.

I ran 11 miles after work today.  I did my Bloomington Hills Loop.  It was cooler weather but it was still quite enjoyable.  I felt pretty good about the run.  Nice and relaxed.

I did another half mile with our puppy this evening.  I am trying to get her wanting to run with me more.  She did great tonight.  Ears were tucked back and away she went.

I ran from the high school over to the DC trail for a nice little warmup.  I stopped and stretched while I got a quick drink of water.  I decided to do a 6 mile Tinman tempo run.  I went 3 miles out and then 3 miles back.  I did the 6 miles at 5:45/mile overall.  It felt good to get the legs moving.  I am going to slowly start doing some more speed workouts.  I will keep them fairly mellow over the winter.  I cooled down back to the school.  Happy with this workout.  Glad to get it in.

Short day at work today so I went for a nice half marathon run.  The rain was coming down pretty good and the wind was a little chilly as well.  I ran around the high school and kept it pretty easy today.  I didn't enjoy the rain too much but that is life.  I survived and am able to talk about it.  I got drenched driving the scooter home though.  Rainy days make me really not want to have a scooter.

On a side note about the beauty of owning a scooter, I went to Flying J to get gas just like everyone else.  I had $2 in my wallet and went in to pay the clerk.  She said I have to at least pay $4 or I can't fill up.  I told her I have never heard that "law" before and on lighter terms, it would probably cost less than $2 to fill up.  They finally let me pay for my gas but said to only put $2 in.  I ended up topping off my tank at $1.95!  I love my scooter when I fill up for gas.  Keep the change folks!  The drive home was still wet though.

I met up with Clyde this morning at did a run by his house.  We went up on the trails and then back around the Washington Parkway exit and then back to his house.  It was nice and relaxed.  The clouds were out but we escaped without encountering any rain.  It was fun chatting about life and all that goes along with it.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.  There is much to be thankful for.

I slept in this morning and then watched TV for a little bit.  I wanted to relax this morning and see if the sun would come out this afternoon.  My waiting paid off and the afternoon was nice and sunny.  The run was a little hot but it got pretty windy so it cooled off a little bit.  I ran from my house out along the Snow Canyon Parkway.  It was nice seeing lots of people walking, biking, and fishing today.

I survived Thanksgiving and hopefully will be able to survive Christmas this year.

I ran with Dave, Clyde, and Ruth this morning.  We out to Hurricane and ran the JEM trail.  It was a 14 mile run with we could have extended and done probably close to 20 today but we had to get back.  It was fun and another great day of weather.  It got fairly hot towards the end of the run.  Another good run to end the week.  I can't believe it is December on Monday.
