Fun run up in Pine Valley with the team. We went on some fun trails and saw lots of deer. It was a blast. Nice breakfast after wards.

Just getting in the miles now trying to stay afloat with everything going on.

13 mile run this morning with Clyde and Dave. We did our usual 3 mile warm up, then jumped into 8 miles of tempo with a 2 mile cool down. The tempo started off a touch slow for the first 2 miles and we picked it up pretty good. A little cooler this morning but not much.

5 miles this afternoon setting up the course for the meet tonight. Fun doing it with Travis and Dave.

7 miles this afernoon with the boys. We did a warm up over to our dirt trail by Hidden Valley and then did 8x1:00 min. pickups with 2:00 min. recovery. We were under 5:00/mile on each pick up. Worked on short stride length and quick turnover.

Ran an easy 3 miles this morning.

I had to leave practice since Katey was pretty sick. I went home and took care of the kids so she could rest.

11 miles early this morning in Salt Lake. Ran from our hotel over to Sugarhouse Park. Got excited to see what could happen with the team there in just over a month. Kept it nice and relaxed. Didn't plan on going that long but the cool temps were amazing.

6 more miles with the team at Sugarhouse Park. We jogged the state course twice with the team this morning so they could get more familiar with it. Lots of fun.

3 miles with the team this morning.

Came home to run because we are going to Salt Lake for a day or two. I pushed Norah in the jogging stroller around Ivins for a total of 7 miles. Got done to low 6:00s for a little bit because I wanted to see how it felt pushing a stroller. Not fun.

13 miles this morning with Clyde and Dave. I felt really good on the 8 mile tempo section. I don't know what it was but I felt awesome. I think I am going to pace these guys the second half of St. George this year. My training is not really training with graduate school and everything else. I am taking the next year to just kind of wing it. Not very fun but I'm sure it will be interesting.

7 miles this afternoon with the boys out in the desert reserve plus 6x:20 sec. strides at the end of the run. Very hot this afternoon. Solid run.

7 miles this afternoon with the boys doing their workout. We did 2x5:00 min. @ "T" pace (rhythm run) and then finished with 4x200m finishes. Not overdoing it with some of the boys. Hopefully it helps. I chucked after this workout. Weird!

19 glorious miles down the marathon course with Clyde, Steve, and Aaron. I was crazy tired from last night due to getting in late last night. Wanted to get a decent run in so I ended up keeping it relaxed and then pushed the last couple miles. We cooled down around Dixie College and then around the cemetery. Decent way to finish the week. Happy to be done.

5 miles early this afternoon with some of the girls plus 4 x :20 sec. strides. It was a long day at work so when I got home I went out for a long 13+ mile run. It was nice to run at night and not worry about pace or anything else for that matter. I was pretty tired at the end but I am glad I went. It was nice to get out later in the day while it was cool.

Race: Santa Clara Swiss Days 5k (3.25 Miles) 00:17:11, Place overall: 3, Place in age division: 1

I am home alone this weekend so I decided to hop in a local 5k in Santa Clara to support those affected by the flood.

I warmed up from my house to the city offices. I needed a VRPB before the race started. I knew going into the race I would be lucky to hang with Hayden Hawks (runs at SUU) and Tommy Ingalls (Snow Canyon's top runner). I wanted to hit 16:30 and call it a day. The race started and I settled into 3rd place fairly comfortable. I could see Hayden and Tommy just in front of me. I was only about 15 to 20 seconds back from them. I don't wear my glasses when I run and I wish I did today. I was about 2 miles in and I was supposed to take a side street but ended up running all the way to the light. I knew when I got there I was going to be longer than 5k. For some reason I get lost in races. Just ask Paul Petersen about Top of Utah Half for 2007.

I made my way back on the course and saw the 4th place guy who was behind me the entire race. I was not going to let him beat me when I knew I ran longer than he did. I blew by him and ended up finished in 3rd with a time of 17:11. I ran .15 extra for this race. I was just under 16:30 for 5k on my watch. Bummer!

Decent race. I am not in racing shape at all but I know this next year is going to be whatever with the running due to graduate school and how time consuming it is.

I am going to pace Dave for the second half of the marathon next week so that should be fun. Still running but not stressing about it right now.
