5.5 miles with the boys this morning under the lights on the track. We did a ladder workout and I got the legs moving. The greatest compliment I got was when we were done and the boys said, "Coach, are you tired?" They were not that tired from the workout. That is the greatest question I could be asked. Good sign.

I am stupid and did the same workout as this morning with one of the varsity boys who had to leave early due to early morning seminary. I pushed through the workout even though it was 30 degrees hotter in the afternoon. The kids were in amazement as they watched me fly around the track :)

10 miles this evening with Aaron. This was probably one of the more cool runs (temperature wise) we have done on a Thursday night. It was fun talking with him about Hood to Coast and just spending time together. Priceless!

I am tired.

I don't recover like I used to. I slept in and just ran with some of the kids this afternoon. Work, graduate school, family, coaching is really keeping me busy. I am just trying to hit between 70-80 miles over the next little bit and I will be good.

Ran early with Steve, Aaron, and Dustin Bybee this morning. We started just off the Toquerville exit and then ran back to the store. It was really dark and it helped to have Steve's headlamp. The temps were really nice as well. It was a cool morning. Aaron felt frisky early so he took off. The three of us ran together and then Dustin and I pushed the pace a little bit. The route was pretty hilly but a good one. I am glad that I was able to do this run. Averaged 6:12/mile overall. Had a few pretty quick miles mixed in there. Cooled down with Steve over to say hi to Dave.

I just finished watching my Aggies almost beat Auburn! It should have happened. Nobody cares about special teams until you need them. Crap!!!

Today was one of those days that you read about in books. The temps were perfect and it was overcast for the entire day. The temperature never got over 85 degrees for the entire day and it rained on and off. I ran with the team this morning off of the Bloomington Loop. We did a fun trail run and then had breakfast after wards. It was a lot of fun. Great way to start the day.

I got a few things done around the house and then pushed Norah in the jogging stroller for 8 miles around Ivins and then over to my parent's house. I hopped in the pool after and it felt great. Nice start to the week.

Warmed up this morning with Clyde and Bill for 3 miles. Clyde and I were not feeling that frisky this morning so I will call it a progression run. I hit 6:19, 6:05, 5:42, 5:32, 5:29, and 5:25. Solid last couple splits. Cooled down back to Clyde's house. Really muggy this morning.

I am just trying to get some decent workouts in so I can pace Steve to a 2:36 this year at St. George. I plan on doing another trail race this fall but I just don't know which one yet. If anyone wants to join us for the 2:36 marathon pace group, see you at the start.

Big workout with the team this afternoon. We did close to 7 miles and did repeats on the track. The Varsity boys looked really strong. Got a massage from April this evening and boy are my calves tight!

10 mile run this morning with Clyde. We were both dragging but lived to tell about it.

2.10 mile run in Provo with the team. We went and did grass loops under the lights where they were playing Ultimate Frisbee. We were going to do more but the bus got us up there a little later than originally planned.

I was not feeling good when I woke up this morning. I was not 100% so I decided to take a day off. My body was very tired and I needed it.

9 miles this morning. I did 3 miles before practice and then a big workout with the boys to get another 6 miles in. We did a mile warm up and then 4 x 5:00 min. with 1:00 min. recovery and then a cool down. We looped around Webb Hill so we had some pretty good up hill. The boys ran extremely well after racing on Saturday.

6 more miles this afternoon while pushing Norah around Ivins in the jogging stroller. Katey came while riding her bike. It was a lot of fun. Nice breeze and perfect weather.

Big workout this morning with Steve, Dustin B., and Dave. We met at the PV track and did a 3 mile warm up into Green Springs. We then did 4 x 800m and 2 x 1600m with 400m recovery in between. It felt really good. I did the first mile in 5:20 and then the second one in 4:57. The 800s were at about 2:21-2:25. 3 mile cool down back up into Green Springs.

7 more miles with the team after school. It was a little breezy and temps were cool. We ran out towards the new airport. It was really fun. 7:18/mile. Great day.

Ran a tempo workout with Dave and Steve this morning. We started at Steve's house and then made our way through Dogtown onto the trail. We did a 15k tempo today. Steve took off pretty quick so Dave and I relaxed into it. We caught up to Steve and I helped pace him in for a great workout. I was really impressed with how he did. He is primed and ready to tear it up at St. George.

Got home from our meet last night at 2am in the morning. I was up and out the door to be running at 5am. Crazy! Met up with Dustin B., Steve, Bill, and Dave at the marathon finish line. We ran up the course just past Winchester Hills (9 miles) and then came back down. I was a really worried about this because I was really tired. My legs were quite heavy at the first. We hit 7:20/mile on the way up and then kept it steady on the way back. Dustin B. and I hit 5:10 and 4:58 for the last 2 miles. Great push at the end. 6:33/mile overall. Great workout.

3 miles in the morning with the team.

Ran with the team over to do a workout on the region course. We did 4 x 4:00min. pick ups with 2:00 min. recovery. The grass was a little longer than I thought it was going to be. The team pushed really well today and it was good to see this since we didn't race very well on Friday. Hopped in to push the girls on their last couple. 8 miles total.

Side note: upchucked my chow mein from lunch! Not pretty! I think I may have scared the kids a little.

3 miles in the morning over to The Spectrum. I wasn't feeling that great so I did not meet up with Dave and the other guys for the workout.

Easy 5.30 miles with some of the boys around Webb Hill. Fairly warm out this afternoon. I did 2 more miles on the treadmill while the team lifted. I was not happy for some reason so I increased the speed on the treadmill until it was 5:00/mile for the last 3/4 of the 2nd mile. It was one of those days I guess.

7 miles in the morning. I did a 2 mile warm up and then 6x400m with 400m recovery and then 6x200m with 200m recovery with one of the Varsity boys who cannot come to practice this afternoon. We hit 1:16-1:20 for the 400s and :34 - :36 for the 200s. Good solid workout. I cooled down a little bit after wards.

6 miles in the afternoon. I did most of the same workout this morning but helped push some of the girls. It was a little warm but everyone ran very well today. This made me happy.

11 miles this morning in SLC. I ran from the hotel up to 900 E. and took it South for a little bit. I went out 5.5 and then came back. I kept the pace honest and hit 6:32/mile. Good way to start a Saturday.

I then did a little warm up and then part of the workout with the boys on the state course. 5 miles for me here.

I am excited for the marathon next week. It will be fun pacing Steve and whoever else wants to hit 2:36. Anyone who wants to join in the fun is more than welcome to come.
