Met up the Circle for Tempo Tuesday. Legs felt heavy on the warm up so I decided to do a slight progression run. Started into it and felt flat. Went 5:56, 5:47, 5:40, 5:33, 5:28 for the 5 mile tempo. Surprised that I felt this good. Happy I didn't throw in the towel this morning.

7.6 miles with the girls this morning. .5 warm up, 6 miles on the trails, and then a little bit during kids camp. Glad to be done for the day.

7.5 miles this morning with the boys. Did 18 minutes for our tempo run on Warner Valley. Went a little quicker today and I was very happy with how the boys did today. Good stuff. Plyombata after wards.

Ran 4 miles with Katey this evening in Huntsville around Pineview Reservoir. Saw a deer almost get hit. Kind of sad. Good start to the 4th of July!

Woke up to a nice overcast morning in Huntsville. Legs were tired from the drive yesterday. I ended up looping out by the monastery and then back around by our old log cabin. Decided to keep the pace up tempo and see how things went. 14.75 miles at 6:23/mile. I really enjoyed smelling all the farms and animals. I miss growing up here. I might go out later with Katey up on the trails of Snowbasin.

Too much stuff going on this morning so I wasn't able to race. Helped Norah get ready to ride her bike in the parade. She had a blast.

I ended up going and running the trails on Snowbasin. I started at the Art Nord Trailhead and made my way up the mountain. The last time I came up here I saw two moose. In the back of my mind I felt like I might see another one. As I was just cruising along, I came around the turn and saw a big bull moose sitting in the trees enjoying the shade. I stopped at looked at it and sprinted past it when it turned its head to eat. Got the heart pumping but still a very cool experience. Crossed the road and went on the Green Pond trail. Made it to the top and then came back down. I really enjoyed this run and was happy to get a solid 10 miles in today. I love the trails on Snowbasin. They are some of the best around.

It has been a long couple days with my family. Lots of stuff going on that drained me physically, emotionally, and spiritually. We were up late talking as a family so I decided to sleep in. I just didn't have it today. Woke up and then went to see some pygmy goats. We are considering getting one to keep the weeds down in our backyard. Maybe?

We made it up to my in-laws early in the afternoon so I decided to get out the door. I didn't feel great and the run showed me that. I didn't worry about the watch and just ran. I was really tired and not feeling great. Hope I can get feeling better.

It was an okay week of running for me.

13 miles this morning cruising around Logan from the in-laws' house. Felt much better today than I did on Saturday. Just kept the pace honest and enjoyed being in the slightly cooler weather. I cannot believe how beautiful it is this time of year. Absolutely gorgeous! 6:55/mile.

4 more easy miles this afternoon in the heat. I needed to soak the hat and put ice cubes in it. Cannot remember the last time this happened in Logan. Solid start to the week.

Katey woke up with me this morning and was nice enough to drive me out to Avon (just past Paradise) to get the workout in. It is a nice rolling section of road that I spotted the last time we were up here. Katey dropped me off and then went on her own little run.

2.75 mile warm up to Paradise, potty break, and then got going. Plan was to hit a 6 mile tempo. 5:34, 5:29, 5:32, 5:31, 5:25, and 5:31 for the 6 miles. Had to take a slight break between the 5th and 6th mile due to some issues. Finished strong and felt happy about the effort. A little bit of a cool down until Katey came and met me at 11 miles. Good run this morning.

I watched the Brazil/Germany game and was super bored. My German ancestors are probably dancing right now. It was overcast so I went 3.5 miles this afternoon on the River Trail. Felt great this afternoon. 7:14/mile. Sat in the Logan River after wards. I really wish we had a cold river in St. George so I could do this everyday. It made the run totally worth it.

I have always wanted to run the 30 miles through Logan Canyon just started above Bear Lake. Seriously considered doing this but due to plans I cut it short for a solid 20 in Logan Canyon. Katey took me up just past the turn off for Tony Grove. I only had 4 VRPBs this morning (Clyde would have been proud) and set off just wanting to get a solid long run in. The temps were amazing and the slight cold breeze made it absolutely perfect. Not a ton of traffic early which made it very nice. Saw three deer along the Logan River which was pretty cool. The river kept the temps perfect. Pushed it the last couple miles and hit 6:24/mile. Stopped at my favorite icing spot and sat in the Logan River to reward myself. Totally worth it after a good 20 miles. Happy to get this in not knowing how busy we will be the next two days of traveling.

I am going to miss Logan weather. It has been hot but the mornings are amazing!

10 miles this morning for the last run in Logan for a while. It rained all last night so the it was cold this morning but was fairly humid. I was drenched in sweat. I guess that is normal. I am going to miss running in Logan. It has been a good week with family. 7:16/mile.

10 miles very early this morning in Orem. We stayed at the La Quinta because Katey ran an 8k trail race up Provo Canyon. The weather was super humid and hot this morning. I sweat way too much. 7:16/mile. That is two days in a row I have ran with him.

Happy with the week of running even with all of the family stuff going on. Hope to hit a little longer tempo on Tuesday and then solid workouts on Thursday and Saturday. Excited to get back to practice with the team and keep working hard. Happy with how things are going. We just need to keep everyone healthy.

Ran with the girls today while they did dirt hill repeats behind the school. Happy with how things went today. Core and stretch after wards. Dealt with cloud cover which was nice. Almost had to call it due to thunder and lightning. We lucked out though.

8 miles after work in the heat this afternoon. The wind was warm but it actually cooled things down. Ran out along Snow Canyon Parkway. I was getting interesting looks while I was running. I am sure people were wondering what I was doing. 7:05/mile.

Tempo Tuesday with the Circle. Knew it was going to be interesting when I saw 84 degrees on the thermometer. That is too hot for 5am in the morning. We did the old tempo loop out in the fields. Warmed up 3.5 miles, VRPB, and then got started. Just wanted to run and not stress about looking at the watch. I just wanted to listen to the body. Ended up hitting 5:40/mile for the 7 mile tempo run. Pretty happy with the run considering I was drenched in sweat. It is good to be home in the heat! This was one of those character runs for the Circle. 13.1 total miles. Ran a little bit for warm up and then during kid's camp. I filled up the tubs for the kids for an ice bath. They needed it and have worked hard to deserve it.

Ran a warm up with the team at Chelsi's Run and then ran the race with Katey. Should have maybe ran it hard but ended up not doing it since I thought it was more important to run with the Mrs.

Really tired from last night so I slept in. 2 mile warm up with the team and then helped track Vo2 max test on track. Went well for the first one. Very happy with it.

8 more miles this afternoon. It was warm but the breeze cooled it off a bit. Cloud cover for the last 2 miles made it amazing. No watch.

Drove up to Navajo Lake with the team this morning. I did a 10 mile loop around the track with the boys. Temps were 52 degrees when we started and 70 degrees when we finished. Absolutely perfect.

4.75 miles this afternoon pushing Oliver in the stroller. We did our usual tradition of running to Unity Park and looking at the cars drive by. We sit in the shade, turn on the splash pad, and just enjoy the cars going by. It is fun to do this with him.

6 miles this morning with the girls. Ended up doing two of the dirt, dike mile repeats. Pushed Laynee to a 6:28 and 6:19. She was very relaxed and in control. Good sign for this early in the season.

Katey and I went and camped at Big John's Flat near Eagle Point up above Beaver. We needed a break from the heat and I wanted to go some of the trails we will do at camp. Absolutely breathtaking up there. Ended up only having time for 5.15 miles. It was getting dark pretty quick.

Started at the trail head and went towards Blue Lake. I ran into a ton of elk and deer on this run. 50 degrees when I started and 63 degrees when I finished! Some of the most breathtaking views I have ever seen in my life. This was an out and back route and was worth every bit of time it took to do it. Running at 10,000+ feet really takes some extra effort and concentration. I ran into some scouts and only a few hikers. Nice and quiet. I had the trail to myself. Perfect way to end the week. I can't wait to take the team on this run. Pushed it back down to the meadows at Big John's Flat to get a nice push at the end.

This was one of top 3 places to trail run next to West Rim Trail in Zion and up near Snowbasin. I loved this run.

Nice finish to the week. Felt nice to get out of the heat for a bit and happy to have some solid workouts in the bank.

Ran with the girls today. We did our warm up and then 5x500m dirt hill repeats and then 4x300m progression finishes on the track. Solid workout for the girls.

Got home from working at the store all day and had a really bad migraine. I laid down and ended up falling asleep for 3 hours. Katey had to wake me up to just eat dinner. I did not feel well. I think I got some stuff Oliver had over the weekend.

Woke up and the temps were great (66 degrees). I wasn't feeling great but knew I should give it a go on the tempo. It was just Steve and myself this morning while Clyde jogged around. Hit the 7 mile tempo with a 5:41/mile average. Nothing spectacular but got through it. The legs felt heavy still and just didn't have any pep today. 13.1 miles total.

Got to practice and ran around Webb Hill with the boys. 7.5 miles total at 7:24/mile. Very solid group again today.

Aqua jogged in my parent's pool after kid's club for about 20 minutes while Norah swam.

Ran 4 miles in Santa Clara before I met up with the team at Barrel Roll. Actually got rained on a bit. Ran the Barrel Roll loop and it was perfect conditions with it being overcast. Very lucky to have that this morning. 8 miles with the team for 12 total this morning.

Went to my parent's house to go swim and have a BBQ. Ran from Walmart to the house. 5.3 miles total for 7:13/mile. 109 degrees. I was super tired after this one. The pool was great. It was a blast watching the Blue Angels practice. We will have a great view sitting at my parent's house on Saturday.

7 miles this morning at BHNP. Ran the warm up with mainly the boys and then hopped in with some of the girls and boys on the Fartlek workout. 4x3:00min. w/3:00min. recovery and then 2x:30sec. w/:30sec. recovery in the middle. Happy with how they ran today. It is always super humid there so of course I was drenched and the team gave me funny looks :)

6 more miles this afternoon pushing Oliver in the jogging stroller. Had a little bit of cloud cover and wind which was nice. He loves riding in the jogging stroller. I look forward to the day he can either ride his bike or run a little with me. Pushing the stroller is hard work.

My thoughts and prayers are with Terri Lusk who was hit by a car this morning while running. Also, thoughts and prayers with Ally Holt who was running with her. A very sad and unfortunate situation. Please be careful out there and remember to hug those you love. A lot as been on my mind today.

Went and did our annual Little Black Mtn. loop. Good group of kids out today. I started with the girls and then took off after 5 miles to try and catch the boys. They were moving so I didn't get close to them. Good stuff from them again. Girls ran well also. 10 miles total.

Planned on doing more but I decided to just go home and be with the family. With all of the incidents lately going on I told myself I need to make a more conscious effort to be with the family more. That is what is most important!

Met up with Circle but no one was there. I was not feeling great this morning. I still have been thinking a lot about Terri Lusk and Ally with the entire situation they went through. It has kept me up the last couple days. I decided to give it a go on the workout but within the first 1/2 mile I almost got hit by a car. I was on the shoulder and the truck swerved towards me. I was so spooked I actually sat on the curb for about 5 minutes along the side of the road. It wasn't in me to finish the workout. I just jogged back to Clyde's house via the fields and ended up with 10 miles for the morning. Kept thinking of my family and how important they are to me.

Went to practice and ran a little before and then did 5 miles with the girls out on the trails. Ran a touch more with the last day of kid's club and called it a morning. Physically and emotionally drained right now.

Did a loop around Puffer Lake with the boys. Ended up hitting 7 miles. I tacked on a few more running back and helping some kids come in. Nice to sit in the cold lake afterwards. The legs were very grateful.

I went up to the Skyline Trail with Bryce so we could mark the trail for Delano Peak and for me to check this section of trail to see if it is worth running on. Bryce marked Delano Peak and I ended up running the Skyline Trail. I saw tons of elk and deer which was really cool. I got mixed up on one section of the trail and it brought me down to a fire road and came back around Puffer Lake. I was glad I made a wrong turn because the rain started to come right when I finished. Beautiful section of trail but need to get back up there to complete the right trail. 10 miles total this afternoon.
