Woke up early to get 4 miles in before practice. First official day of XC practice. Great turnout and I am super excited to see what the team can accomplish this year. Lots of kids out this early is a great sign. Just need to keep everyone consistent and healthy.

5.5 miles with the boys out on the trails. .5 mile warm up and then averaged 7:30/mile. Core and stretch after.

6 miles this afternoon. The heat was killing me. I still needed to get my workout out. I ran from my parent's house and did 12x1:00 min. Fartleks w/1:00 min. recovery. Felt good to push but the heat was a bugger.

3 miles before practice and then .5 mile warm up.

3 miles with the girls today. Very optimistic with what they can do. Should be fun to watch.

Planned on getting out for more this afternoon/evening but the kids didn't want to fall asleep so I was up late with them. The joys of being a parent. No biggy. Big day planned for tomorrow.

Met up early with Dave today. Homer put a dent in my car. He did it on purpose. He will be hearing from my insurance company. Did the DC loop and did 4 miles worth of tempo. Getting going again with the speed stuff. Hit 5:44, 5:38, 5:43, and 5:32 for the miles. Good start and I felt good. 10 miles total.

Got to practice a touch early so I added on another 2 miles before we got started.

5.5 miles with the boys again this morning. Still have a great group coming out. Little bit of barefoot running after.

15 minutes worth of pool running this afternoon. Did this a long time ago but haven't for a while. I will start doing more of this. Solid day.

Met up at Dave's house at 5:15 for our run. We ran from his house down to Sullivan Park to meet up with everyone else. Ran with Haydo, Steve, Ashley, and Aaron. It has been a while since I have ran with Aaron. Good to see him again. Clyde met up with us near Staheli Farms and proceeded to cut me off right from the get go. Lovely! We kept the pace steady until we stopped at Little Valley Park. Took a GU and then started to do a mini progression. Hit a few miles at 6:00, 5:50, and then then low 5:30 with a one or two just under 5:30. Aaron and I took off a bit and I just wanted to be with him as long as possible. Only was a few steps behind him for the last little bit. Cooled down back to Dave's house. Nice little climb back up to his house. Good push for the day. 19 miles total.

Happy with the first week back of running quality workouts. Hope to keep things rolling. Fun to be out running with some great runners. Makes it lots of fun.

6.5 miles this morning with the boys. Kept it steady climbing hills out on the trails behind the school. Great start to the week. Core and stretch after wards.

3 miles easy over to Hidden Valley after practice.

6 more miles this afternoon pushing Oliver in the stroller. We enjoyed looking at dump trucks and sitting in the grass next to the splash pad. He loves looking and talking about stuff on these runs. I don't enjoy pushing the stroller but it is worth it to spend quality time with Oliver. Plus it gets him outside enjoying nature.

Good run this morning. Legs felt good. 4 miles at practice out on the trails with the girls. Kids club was today. Lots of kids and lots of fun.

Met up with the Circle this morning. We did our DC loop and did 5x3:00min. w/recovery. Felt great on the first 4 but the stomach was having some issues on the last one. Still was a great push for the morning. Just over 10 miles total.

6.15 miles with the girls out on the trails going towards Little Black Mtn. from the Southern Parkway. Felt good to run with them and talk to them about a few things for the upcoming season. I think I am done for the day :)

Ran "The Mutha Loop" today with the Circle. 22 miles total. The wind didn't help because it seemed like a blow dryer. Kept the pace honest throughout the whole run. Hit 5:09 for one of my last miles just for kicks and giggles. 6:35/mile. Good way to end the week with the guys.

I felt good this week and am happy with how it went. Just need to keep it rolling.

Ran this morning with Clyde. Dave is out of town for scout camp. Planned on doing another tempo run but I got a really bad head cold yesterday so I told him I could just muster an easy run to try and clean the system out. We ended up hitting 7:04/mile. Still feeling yucky and weak.

7 miles out on the trails towards Sun River with the boys. They are doing well but super antsy. Excited to see how motivated they are.

Kids club after wards.

Had a banquet at SUU until 10pm last night and then we immediately drove to Logan. We rolled in at about 2:30am. I slept until 10am and then went for my run. It was only 65 degrees at the start. Amazing! Ran from the in-laws south towards Providence. Stopped to get a lovely drink of water and it was freezing cold. Absolutely loved this time of year in Logan. Crazy to see all the houses being built around town. Lots of growth. 6:49/mile for 14 total miles. Wish I could have kept going.

Lots of World Cup watching today!

Went the opposite direction this morning from the in-laws house in Logan. I made up a nice loop that I haven't done before. Hyde Park has lots of trees which kept it nice. 60 degrees again this morning. I took my shirt off and just enjoyed this run. Most of the other runners had long sleeve shirts on. 6:47/mile for almost 11 miles. If Logan weather was like this all year, I would live here in a heart beat.

Last day in Logan with family. It has been a lot of fun. Woke up and the plan was to go run up Blacksmith Fork Canyon. I parked at Hollow Road and started my wind and fought the wind for 2.5 miles and said I am going to go elsewhere. I ended up in Hyrum and then literally found Paradise. It was beautiful out that way. Kept the pace honest throughout. Slow for the first 8.5 miles and then kept it Tinman pace or slightly faster on the way back. 6:24/mile for 17 miles. Kept hacking up stuff the whole run. I think I feel better. I wish I could have hit some decent workouts this week but the head cold wasn't going away.

Excited to get back with the guys and team to get rolling on some good workouts. Decent week despite being a little sick. I'll take it.

Ran the warm up and cool down with the boys before they did Meat Grinders on Webb Hill. The team looked good today and was pleased with the first hill repeat workout of the season. Trying to get caught up on rest due to these allergies or whatever keeps me from having a stuffy nose.

Met up with the Circle and did our tempo loop from Clyde's. Plan was to do 5 miles but I knew I would probably struggle since I still had the stuffy nose. Hit 5:28, 5:26, 5:40, and then 5:34 for the .5 mile for 3.5 miles. Nothing spectacular but I had to stop because I was hacking up stuff. Yeah! I love feeling like this. Cooled down with the guys. Just need to keep grinding it out and get better.

6 miles on the trails with the girls today. I felt flat still and I was in survival mode from the get go.

Went out towards Warner Valley and ran a 15 tempo run with the boys. Thought I would get the legs moving and see if the stuffy nose got any better. We averaged 5:53 for just over 2.5 miles. Very pleased with how they did. I felt okay but happy to get it in. 7 miles total. Plyombata after wards.

Ran 8.5 miles with the girls out on the Jem Trail. The weather was absolutely perfect due to cloud cover and a slight breeze. The girls ran well today. Kept it relaxed and had a great conversation about lots of stuff. Hope to get more in this afternoon.

Did the Clyde Marathon this morning starting at the DC. Did the usual loop as last week but just extended it. Plan was to go under 2:45 and not be jacked up after wards. Started out with Clyde and Dave. Kept the pace honest and really got going once we stopped at Clyde's and got a GU and some water. Picked it up after Sullivan Park which was around 18 miles. Knew we needed to push it to get under 2:45 around mile 20. Started to get going and then felt a little tired around 23 and then progressively got more tired. I started to feel it in my legs and had to work the last couple miles. I went down the trail and then flipped it back to the DC. I stopped at the overpass and collapsed on the ground. I was very sweaty and just laid on the ground. A couple l6adies ran by and asked if I needed some help. I guess I looked like I was in bad shape. I got up and it looked like I was melting. Got some fluids in me and felt a lot better. I forgot to stop my watch but Clyde came in just a bit after me. I think I hit 2:43 and change for 6:16/mile.

Solid way to end the week. Very happy with this run. Pretty tired now. Ended up going to Eagle Point and checked out some trails for our XC camp. Good thing I was on a 4 wheeler.
