I decided to do a different run today.  I ran along the Bonneville Shoreline Trail and then went up Green Canyon.  It was a beautiful day and I couldn't ask for better running conditions.  I got a little dehydrated so I needed to cut the run a little short so I could replenish.  Nice little climb up through Green Canyon.  It was memorable.

6 easy miles over to North Logan and back.  Ran along 16th east.  Cooler temps but it was still nice out.

4.30 miles around the university this afternoon.  I had to cut it short because I think I am getting sick.  Not fun at all.

I was supposed to run with Paul this morning but I woke up and was not feeling good.  Everyone at my in-laws is sick and I was moaning all night.  I wish I could have ran with Paul but it will have to wait until next time.

15 miles this morning from the DC with the Circle of Trust and Taylor.  It was a great morning and I felt really good after being sick all day yesterday.  It was fun being in Logan all week but I am very happy to be home.

We kept the pace nice and relaxed the first half and then picked it up a little bit towards the end.  Glad to get a solid run in and feeling stronger everyday.

Next week will be exciting due to cross country starting and having a full week to run in sunny St. George.  Ready to get going again.

First day of cross country practice and I couldn't be happier.  Lots of kids came out and the boys are looking good for a strong showing this year.  I am going to need some girls to step up big time this year.

I ran a little before practice and then finished the rest up with the team.  Nice first day and I am happy to back into cross country season.

Did another 6 miles this afternoon in the heat.  It was really hot.  I finished my run at my parent's house so I could jump in the pool to get refreshed.  It was a nice reward for the run.

6 miles this morning.  Another solid group of kids out for cross country.  Nice to see a lot of kids out this early.

Another 6 miles around Ivins and then finished up at my parent's house.  It was nice and warm so I took the Camelbak.  It was very helpful having that.  Consistency is still helping me out.

3 easy miles with some of the cross country kids this morning.  I am still pumped about the season.

Got home from a busy day of doing graduate school work and decided to take Norah out for a good 6 miler in the jogging stroller.  The wind was slightly blowing and we took a lot of water so it wasn't to hot.  She sat up the whole time and loved the run.  She had it easy while I did all the work.  It was fun though.

6 miles in the morning over by the high school.  Ran a few with some of the kids.  The morning runs are slowly starting to warm up.  Yeah :)

Another 6 miles this afternoon in the lovely heat.  I took the Camelbak again.  I think this will be a lifesaver for me.  Once again I finished my run at my parent's house so I could jump in the pool.  The body is happy to be running more consistent as of late.

Nice 6 miles this morning while doing some of the miles with the kids.  Now off for more homework for graduate school.

Ran again this afternoon pushing Norah in the jogging stroller.  She loved the wind blowing in her hair.  She kept one of my hats on the entire time for protection from the sun.  She loved stopping every once in a while and getting sprayed by the water from people watering there lawns.  Good solid run.

I have decided to run a 50k trail race over the 24th down in San Francisco.  Katey and I had our honeymoon there and we are going to go back and visit from friends.  It looks like a good race and I am excited to be gearing up for an official race.

I ran from my house this morning and then did the Barrel Roll trail twice.  I ran the trail counter clockwise and then went back out and ran it clockwise.  I really wanted to focus on hydrating because that has been my problem in the past.  I had the Camelbak and then a hand held with Cytomax in it.  It worked out perfect.  I wasn't trying to worry about how fast I was going but just enjoying the moment.  I ran the entire run in just over 2 1/2 hours.  Nothing fancy but a very good trail run.

On my second loop I caught up to a mountain biker leisurely going up the hill.  He saw me coming and then kicked it up another gear.  Always fun chasing bikers!

This is my best week of running in a long time.  Just need to stick with it.

6 miles this morning.  Did some of it with the cross country team.  Weather is slowly starting to warm up.

Another 6 miles this afternoon around Ivins.  Warm out but wearing the Camelbak makes it manageable.  Finished once again at my parents' house to swim in the pool as a nice reward to myself.  I will do more easy miles this week with a long run on the trails Saturday.  I will then do more 50k specific work next week.  This will include a few Meat Grinders up Webb Hill.  Memories :)

8 miles in the morning.  I did 3 miles with the kids and then did a 5 mile loop from the high school, to Mr. D's, and then back up along the golf course.  Nice morning.  Going to see April tonight.  Yeah!

7 miles this morning.  I ran 3 miles before practice and then did 4 miles with most of the team.  Slowly but surely we are getting there.  This will be a fun group this year.

6 miles this afternoon in the balmy 100 degree weather.  Nice little stroll around Ivins.  6:42/mile.  Felt alright throughout the run despite the heat.

7 miles in the morning.  I ran 4 miles with some of the kids over towards Little Valley and then another 3 miles after wards.  6:58/mile.  Getting warm in the mornings.

10 miles this evening.  I went to the club run at 6pm and no one was then.  I decided to do my own loop out towards Bloomington and back.  The wind was blowing pretty bad but I kept the pace honest throughout.  Dave met up with me on the trail and said that everyone was meeting at 7pm tonight.  I didn't get the message but oh well.  I averaged 6:37/mile.  Nice solid run tonight.

Two 10 mile loops out in the desert this morning by Little Black Mtn.  Dave joined me on the first loop which was fun and then I did the second one all by myself.  We did the first loop in 1:11:40 and then I did the second loop in 1:09:18.  Nothing blazing fast but good run overall.  I wanted to get some good fluid and food intake in preparation for my upcoming 50k.  I think I might have a special drink that will help me out.  Great weather for a run this morning.  Fun to chat with Dave on the first loop.

Another solid week of decent base mileage.  I will do a few key workouts next week.  Two words: Webb Hill!

3 miles with the cross country team at Little Valley Park.  Nice little clip we were at.  I then saw Clyde running by and decided to do his Bloomington Loop with him to add some more mileage.  Total mileage was 9.5 and 6:56/mile.  Good way to start the week.

Katey and Norah got me a Magic Bullet for Father's Day.  I am very excited to start using it!

Katey went out with some of the girls tonight so I took Norah in the jogging stroller for a nice 4 mile run around Ivins.  It was a little warm but overall it felt nice because the wind was blowing.  Norah seemed to enjoy it.  She didn't complain much.

4 miles with some of the boys on the cross country team around Little Valley Park.  I then did part of Clyde's loop to tack on some more mileage for this morning.  Almost caught the 7:00 minute guy.

On a sad note, some of my girls were finishing their run and came upon a elderly lady who had been hit by someone and left on the road.  Whoever hit her just took off.  A hit and run.  Are you kidding me?  One of my assistants and I hurried over there just as the ambulance was arriving.  Two of my girls had to see this.  They seem to be doing okay though.  We talked with the officers for a minute and then life flight came.  It does not look good for the lady.  I was pretty upset at first because I have 30+ kids out on the roads and I cannot be everywhere at once to watch them.  I share this story to make sure everyone stays safe while running out on the roads.  Drivers are just plain idiots!

No run this afternoon due to having fun at the lake and then staying up until 1:30am doing graduate work.  Yeah!!!

2 miles before practice on the grass at Little Valley and then did 5.75 miles with my top group of boys.  I am optimistic about this season for them.  They should be pretty good if they can stay healthy and keep working hard.  It is supposed to be 104 degrees today so I am probably not going to run until later in the evening.

Katey is out of town the rest of the week so getting my runs in will be a little tricky.  I waited until Norah went to bed around 7pm to get my second run in.  I went with my little brother and one of his friends.  We did a loop out into Ivins.  7:43/mile.  My brother said he will never run with me again.  I guess the pace was to fast.  Bummer!

1 mile before practice around Little Valley and then 5.25 miles with some of the boys.  Nice run this morning.  Just over 7:00/mile.  Temps are really starting to warm up.

10 mile run at club run with Dave, Clyde, and Aaron.  We started at 7pm and it was 106 degrees.  We all complained about the heat but we survived.  Barely!  Nice to get more miles in but what added to the misery was nice headwind for 2 miles which made the run much more memorable.  Averaged around 6:40/mile.

Ran the Utah Hill loop out off the Bloomington Loop this morning with Dave, Steve, and Wildbull.  We kept it nice and relaxed through the first loop and really did well going up the monster hill.  It is a real lung burner.  Those 3 just did the 14 mile loop with me and then I refueled and went back out for another 8 miles.  We saw a little coyote that seemed to be struggling.  We think it got away from its mother.  I had some extra Powerade but I couldn't catch him fast enough.  It started to get really warm but I had a nice little breeze that cooled me off.  I was going to go longer but did not have enough time.  I loved the New Balance 101 shoes I got yesterday.  They are really light and helped a ton.  I once again hydrated well throughout the run and felt pretty strong.  I averaged 7:30/mile.  I was happy to see this considering all of the fun hills.

This is probably one of the best weeks running I have had in a while.  I will get up to a 30 mile run for my 50k.  It should be fun.

Another 6 miles this afternoon.  Quite hot but I felt pretty good. Went through Ivins and then finished at my parent's house to jump in the pool.

10 minutes of swimming which felt really good.

Fun running 10 miles with the guys at the club run. I got pretty sweaty but I survived. The pace was good but I cramped up in my stomach pretty bad the last mile.
