El Burro Blanco

Had to come up north to help the family with some things. I ran from the hotel off 5400 South and caught the Jordan River Parkway Trail. Lots of people out. Headed south. I did an out and back. Cloud cover and a little rain made it perfect. 7:00/mile overall for 12 miles.

Still up in Salt Lake. Ran north along the Jordan River Parkway this morning. Trees along the trail made it enjoyable. I was having some fun and chased a couple guys down. Felt good this morning. 10 miles total at 6:42/mile. I got back to the hotel and ran a barefoot mile on the grass. Great way to end the week. Feeling stronger every day.

9 total miles this morning. Ran 8 miles with Ben Powell from the high school and looped around Webb Hill. Great catching up with him. I might have him as another training partner for this summer before he heads off to medical school. 6:47/mile overall.

Headed over to help a senior with his BYU ROTC Scholarship stuff. He had to do x amount of pushups and situps and run 1.5 miles in 9:12. That is moving for most people. Fun to help him out.

6 more miles this afternoon in the heat. Ran with music which helped again. The breeze kept it bearable. Just nice and relaxed. No watch.

I went out this afternoon in the heat. 90+ degrees for my 10 miler out in the fields. I just tried to stay nice and relaxed. Grateful for a few water spots. 7:00/mile overall.

Ran with Trevor and Ben this morning in Little Valley. Felt pretty good this morning. Pushed the last couple miles. The last mile was under 6:00. 6:30/mile overall.

4 more miles this afternoon in 93 degree weather. The temps are starting to get thick.

8 miles in the morning with Trevor around Webb Hill. A little warmer this morning. 6:28/mile overall. I can tell I am in much better shape. 

Ran with Dave and Steve this evening around the Mayor's Loop. 6 miles total. 7:22/mile overall. Hot!

9 miles this morning with Trevor out towards Crimson Cliffs. Temps were amazing this amazing. Didn't mean to but ran 5:56, 5:46, 5:42 for the last 3 miles.

4 more miles with my friends Tiesto and Martin Garrix. 

16 total miles this morning. 6 miles with Trevor and Ben around the Mayor's Loop and then another 10 miles with Aaron and his rollerblading friend, Billy. It was great running with Aaron again. He is going to be able to help push me for the marathon. Time to be uncomfortable again. 6:18/mile overall. Probably the best I have felt in a while. Great push to end the week. Two more weeks and then I get going with the official training. 

Another solid week.

8 miles this morning out towards SunRiver and back. No watch. Perfect weather. It took me a little bit to get going but just put it on cruise control and enjoyed the run. Good start to the week.

The only thing I dislike more than 100 degree weather to run in is lots of wind. Headwind everywhere I turned for 5 miles. Survived :)

10 miles this morning with Steve and Clinton Rhoton. We did a warm up and then did a little 3 mile push. Nothing crazy but happy with it nonetheless. 6:27, 6:02, and a 5:30 last mile. I can tell the body is feeling much stronger. Excited to run more with Clinton as we train for the marathon.

1 1/2 hour mountain bike ride this evening with Amy, Nick, and John out on Secret Sauce. I almost wrecked about 10 times. Living on the edge.

8 miles this morning around Webb Hill. I listened to some music again. I also ran past Clinton this morning. Solid morning.

5.15 miles this afternoon with Ben from my parent's house. The breeze helped. We hopped in the pool after.

7 miles this morning with Ben out to SunRiver. He is a great young man. 7:07/mile.

6 miles around the Mayor's Loop with Dave this evening. Such a solid guy.

7 miles with Ben this morning from St. James along three new section of trail in front of Summit. Pretty fun section. 6:55/mile.

Planned lighter week helped with the run today. 15.5 miles total at 6:14/mile overall. I ran down the second half of the marathon course. I wanted a little push but nothing crazy. Last 10 miles of the run went as follows:

6:01, 6:02, 5:56, 5:44, 5:56, 5:54, 5:54, 5:51, 5:54, 5:56

That is all I needed for today. I felt controlled and relaxed. A perfect way to end the week.

7.15 miles this morning with Ben around Webb Hill. My butt and legs were a little sore from the run on Saturday. 7:08/mile overall. Good to start the week off on a great note.

10.5 miles total this morning. Ran with Steve, Clinton, and Ben this morning. 6:45/mile overall. Did a 4 mile tempo in the middle. 6:15, 5:44, 5:37, and 5:51. The last mile was up hill and my legs were still a little tired from Saturday. Happy with the effort though. Feeling stronger every day.

Hiked Elephant Arch this evening. Lots of sand but pretty cool nonetheless.

10 miles this morning with Ben from St. James out towards Washington on the River Trail. 6:52/mile. Cooler temps made this run almost perfect.

9 miles total this morning. 7 miles with Ben out to SunRiver and then I added 2 more miles after. 6:58/mile overall. Cooler temps still.

6 more miles this evening with Dave along the River Trail out towards Washington.

10.5 miles this morning looping around Little Black Mountain with Ben. Started a little slow but finished strong and fast. 6:44/mile overall. It was a great morning. Love that guy.

18 total miles this morning. Ran mostly with Aaron but then Steve joined us for a little bit of it. We started out at Sand Hollow and ran along the dirt road until we caught the Hell Hole Trail. We took that all the way down the new section of the River Trail (awesome by the way) to Confluence Park. Temps were nice at the start but we did encounter a little bit of headwind on the trail. Decent little push. 6:14/mile overall. Solid way to end the week. Feeling stronger.

10 miles this morning around Little Valley. 6:57/mile. Cruise control.

Tempo Tuesday. Met at Confluence Park and did a little warm up before we started. Felt good at the start but then had to hit the bathroom due to stomach issues. Splits were 5:46, 5:52, 5:55, 5:43, 5:41. Happy considering the stomach wasn't feeling great. 12 miles total for the morning.

10.25 miles total this morning. 8.25 miles with Trevor and Ben out towards SunRiver. It was a little warmer but still felt nice. It is going to be hot this afternoon for my second run. I added on 2 more miles after we got back to my place. 6:44/mile overall. 
 

5 more miles this afternoon. Only 104 degrees. Ice in the hat and plan for water stops. Summer has officially begun.

I went and ran with Ben this morning on Sidewinder and Suicidal Tendencies. I got pretty dehydrated but felt good after about 7 miles. Fun to be out on those trails. It has been a while. Always a good time to run with Ben. 12.60 miles total.

I ran with my friend Garrett up in Beaver. Temps were nice and it was a great morning. I ran three with my friend and then had another another 12 afterwards. 6000 feet was perfect elevation. I did get a little tired at the end though. It helped to have a few streams to dip my head in and soak off every once in a while. 15 miles total. 

Last day in Beaver. Not a tone of time this morning but ran from the condo to Puffer Lake and back. 10,000 feet is no joke. 5.2 miles total. Ate at the El Bambi Cafe after. Yummy food!
