Personal:
I am currently 39 years old. I have a 11 year old girl, Norah, a 9 year old boy, Oliver, and a 6 year old girl, Myla, who are wonderful. I am a SPED Teacher at Desert Hills High School in St. George, Utah. I also coach the cross country and track teams at Desert Hills High.
Drove some of the team up to Cedar for an altitude workout on SUU's track. Took Norah and Oliver with me so I ran around with them while the team did the workout. Car wash this afternoon so I was trashed so no run :(
Met up with Dave at the DC and did a big loop into Bloomington and then all the way into the fields. Good to run with him again. It has been way too long. 7:00/mile overall. Happy to end the week this way.
7.5 miles total this morning. Met up with the team and did some 400s. Mine ranged from 1:18 down to 1:08 while I ran with the girls and then some of the boys. Hope I can knock some of this turnover for tomorrow at the Coach's Mile.
5.5 miles this afternoon running over to the Ivins Reservoir. Not a lot of water today. Lots of yucky mud though.
Panther Relays Coach's 1600 (1 Miles) 00:04:53, Place overall: 1
Total Distance
10.50
5 miles this morning.
5.5 miles this afternoon running around getting warmed up and cooled down at the Panther Relays. The Coach's Mile was epic.
I ran the first lap behind Greg Harris and then made a move on the second lap and took the lead. I was feeling good but I knew Dave would come back on me. He caught me with about 40 meters to go and lead for a second or two. I fought back and beat him at the line. Dave said he beat me but he hugged me from behind at the finish line. That means I win. Plain and simple. Coughed for the rest of the night and the legs are tired. The old gray mare he ain't what he used to be!
Lots of fun today having the runners yell at me all the silly stuff I say to them. One of the funnest parts of the track season is always the Panther Relays.
4 more miles this afternoon running with the girls. I tied up all the girls with yarn and worked on them staying as a group. It was something different and unique but it helped some of the younger girls realize that they are capable of pushing themselves more. Hopefully it helped them out. Kind of fun to hear them joke around and say "Owwwww" the whole time. I think I will tie the yarn a little different next time.
9.25 miles this morning. Did the Webb Hill loop before practice and then ran with the team. Track meet for the rest of the day so no time for a second run.
Same loop as last week with Dave. I got up pretty early to get this in though. Kept it relaxed and just enjoyed the run. Pretty when it is early in the day. 7:04/mile.
Lots of wind this afternoon so I was glad we were doing the Fartlek workout. 7.5 miles total which included 10x1:00 min. in between. Happy they had water on at Little Valley. I needed it.
Woke up early and got my run in before the track meet today. Started at the house, went out along the Highway, back around Unity Park, ran along Snow Canyon Parkway while weaving through Ivins, ran all the way down Bluff St. (needed a bathroom break at Bluff Park), caught Dixie Dr. and ran back through Santa Clara and Ivins. 24 miles total at 7:03/mile.
This was kind of a cleansing run. Every once in a while I do silly things like a longer run after a long week. It helps clear my mind. Life is busy with work, family, church, coaching, and running. I feel like I am doing better managing time but I am still busy. Happy with how the team ran this weekend. Some boys didn't have their best races but that is okay. I really want everyone I coach to be successful in every race but it doesn't always work out that way. I guess we all just need to stay the course.
7.5 miles this afternoon. Fun to have Laura Dalton (Thompson) come back and run with the team today. She is starting her first teaching/coaching job this fall. I am excited for her and really pumped to see what she can do. She is nervous but will do great.
Did 2 mile warm up, 3x1000m w/Rachel, pushed Tanner for his last 300m, ran 3x1000m, 1x300m, and 2x150m with Laynee since she had to take a test after school. Seriously one of the best workouts of the year for the entire team. Very positive stuff heading into the main championship part of the season. 7.5 miles total.
6 miles this morning. Good start to the week. I am going to try and have a little better week than last week.
6.5 miles total this afternoon. Warm up, strides, 6x400m with the girls. Wanted to push them a little bit today to show them they are in great shape. They finished with some 300s and then I hopped in with the boys to help them finish off the workout. Really warm today.
