Chill run with Clyde this morning except for the gale force winds for the entire run. I hate wind! Good to run with him again.

No run this afternoon due to the meet at Snow Canyon. The team ran well and I was happy with how it turned out.

3 miles in the morning to the Spectrum.

7 miles total this afternoon. Warm up and then 4x1000 with 350, 300, 250, 200, 100m cutdowns. Dang wind altered the workout a bit and I thought the times would be off a bit but we were actually close. Ran with the girls for the first couple and then finished off with the boys. 3:30, 3:28, 3:10, 3:06. 1 mile cool down.

Got to bed by 9am and woke up at 3am feeling quite refreshed. I read for an hour and then drove over to the high school and was running by 4:30am. Ran from the high school over to Clyde's and then did our tempo loop. Almost got ran over by three deer drinking in the stream. Freaked me out because it was pitch black and unexpectedly came on to then. I went up towards Pine View High and then back down by Maverick and caught back on to the trail. Made it to Clyde's and then ran back to the school for a solid 21 mile run. I averaged 7:02/mile.

It has been a while since I've done a 20 mile let alone one all by myself. The temps were perfect and it was great to just run and think about a lot of different things. Happy to get a solid week of running in.

Dave and Trevor are already trash talking for the coach's mile on Tuesday. It should be interesting to see what I can run.

7.5 miles this afternoon with the team. 2 mile warm up, strides, 1x3200m surge workout, 3x300m finishes, 3x150m finishes. Ran some of this with the boys and then some of it with the girls. Temps were very hot today. 1 mile cool down, Plyombata and then ice bath. Great way to end the day. Decent start to the week.

Norah was up all night being sick so no run this morning.

9 miles total this afternoon. We had the Panther Relays today which is always fun for the team. The ultimate race of the day is the open mile. Dave and I usually do a little trash talking but it was fairly mild this year. Jogged around watching the kids and probably did too many strides. Needless to say, I was warmed up. I decided to draw a Stop Holt sign on my singlet to see if it would freak him out. It didn't.

The race started and I decided to run smart. Dave and Trevor took off like 9th grade boys and went out hard. I hit the first 400 in 69 and told myself to just run. The team was saying all the good stuff I tell them in races, "stay relaxed, eyes up, relax your shoulders, close the gap." Nice to know they listen. I closed the gap a little on the second lap and heard 2:20 for the 800. Nice! Worked closer to Dave on the third lap and then just went for it on the bell lap. Caught Dave on the turn and passed him. Held him off until the 200 mark and then his long legs were just to much for my short, squatty legs. He blew by me and I tried to go with him. Got to the finish line and saw 4:44. Dave ran 4:41 and got me by a few seconds. Darn.

I ended up throwing up in the garbage can after the race. I guess I raced hard. This was a ton of fun and I think we need to do more track meets for adults. It is a great atmosphere and fun for everyone involved. Happy with a 4:44. I just wanted to BYU qualify and hit sub-4:50. Check!

Cooled down a bit and called it a day. Lots of fun today.

Congrats to Dave and his long legs!

Slept in this morning. Much needed.

Great meet today at Dixie for the team. Very happy with the way things went.

Got home a little earlier than originally planned and ended up doing 10 miles from the house. I went and ran out along Snow Canyon Parkway. Did some surges throughout the last 5 miles. Felt pretty good. No watch though and just enjoyed the temps and weather.

Met up with Steve and did the same loop I ran last week. We started at 5:15am and kept it nice and relaxed for the first few miles and then slowly picked it up. Temps were absolutely perfect and I couldn't have asked for a better way to end the week. We ended up catching the 7:30 guy for our total average. Happy with this. It was great running with Steve again. The store is doing well so that means Steve is doing well!

Another decent 70 mile week. Happy with it. Great meet from the boys and girls this week at Dixie. Very happy with this as well. Keep moving in the right direction.

Slept in this morning.

Ran this afternoon due to early out and ended up pushing both Norah and Oliver in the jogging stroller over into Santa Clara. Averaged 7:30/mile. Lots of fun with Norah because she demanded to get out and run alongside me. She ran close to 3/4 mile. Tons of fun.

6 miles total this afternoon. 2 mile warm up, strides, 12x400m w/90 sec. recovery. Ran with the girls for the first 10. 1:18 for the first 8, 1:16 for the 9th, 1:10 for the 10th. Paced the boys to go 1:04 on their 11th and then timed then on their 12th. Fun to see some of the guys go mid 50 seconds for the last one. 1 mile cool down. Core and stretch.

Clyde was born 35 years ago so to keep the tradition going, we ran 35 miles for his birthday. We started at the DC at 12:10am this morning. Mark and Steve ran the first loop with us. We did two 12.6 loops around Stone Cliff and Little Valley and then didn't extend around Stone Cliff on the final loop. The temps were absolutely perfect and the moon was bright so it made for a memorable run. We hit 35 miles at just under 4:11 for 7:10/mile. Only needed to survive with three Gu's, pretzels, Heed, a little Gatorade, and water.

This run was quite memorable. Very happy to hit something like this every now and then. I was super tired the rest of the day. I crashed at my parent's house for two hours before I went to work. I wish I could have stayed in bed. Memorable run for sure.

Ended up running 2.5 miles with the team this afternoon on part of their Kenyan Run. My body was just physically tired. Sat in a chair and watched the team do 200m finishes. Great group of student/athletes to work with.

Slept in a bit and left the in-laws house a touch after 8:15am. Nice 41 degree weather! Ran up to Sky View and watched the 3200m races. Conner Mantz ran a solo 9:27 in cold and wet conditions. Impressive! Just kept it relaxed and ended up averaging 6:51/mile. Cool thing was that on the way back in North Logan, I ran on to a herd of about 25 deer (one massive buck in the middle strutting his stuff)! I could have almost reached out and grabbed them. It was pretty cool seeing that.

Happy to end the week on a solid note. Legs are coming around and I think I am getting caught up on my sleep. Yeah! Now I get to enjoy the rest of the weekend in Logan.

Still up in Logan. Ran a loop down through the main part of town. Cooler temps made this run amazing. I caught all of the traffic for everyone going to school. Pretty busy. 7:00/mile overall. No run this afternoon due to driving all day from Logan back home. Great weekend with the in-laws.

Way to go Meb and Shalane. Very impressive to see what you did at Boston. Very inspirational. Major props to the rest of the FRBers who ran as well. I think I want to go back next year.

3 easy miles this morning. The weather was nice and warm which helped make the run nice.

Due to gail force winds we did our annual 200m repeat workout. I have a set time for each runner and they are supposed to hit as many of them as they can. I ran the first 24 with some of the boys. Hit between :38 and :40 seconds for each of them. I then hopped in the last 12 with the boys. I hit :32 to :34 on them. The boys were in front of me for most of them. I had to shut them down at 36 because I needed to get home. They would have kept going if I didn't stop them. Solid workout and something a little different for the team.

Now I am trashed. Seems like an easier workout on paper but is not. Good day of running.

5 miles this morning with some of the team. Did a 2 mile warm up, strides and then 8x400m with 2:00min. rest. Ran the first 6 with Courtney and Laynee. 1:13 - 1:15. Did the last 2 with the boys. I hit 1:06 for both of them but they were obviously faster than this old man.

4 easy miles with the team this afternoon in the wind. Ran up along the Arizona Strip. Core and stretch after. Ran to and from my parent's house to tack on another 7 miles. Still very windy. 7:10/mile.

Woke up very early (3:15am) to get the run in. Clyde was gracious enough to come and run with me. I needed to go early because the track team was heading up to Richfield for a meet.

We started at my house and then ran out along the Snow Canyon Parkway. The temps were quite warm and then it ended up raining for about the last 4-5 miles once we started to head back.

Once we hit Ivins, a police officer flashed his lights and then flipped around. He asked, "Are you guys okay? Are you doing the Ironman next week?" We told him we were just runners and he wasn't quite sure what to say to that. He drove off and told us to have a great day. This lovely running habit I have :) Finished the run off for a total of 15 miles just under 7:30/mile.

Went to Richfield and spent the day in cold temps and rain. Quite an interesting day. I survived and am happy to be done for the week.

12 miles this afternoon. Ended up hopping in the tail end of the workout with the kids due to teacher meetings. Ran a few 400s and a few 200s. I didn't warm up enough. I cooled down with the team. I came home and then over to Snow Canyon for the last chance qualifier. Warmed up with Samantha and Brianna which was fun to talk with them and then jogged around during the meet. Nice and windy today. Ran back home after the meet. 6:45/mile to and from my house.

Good start to the week.
