Another big boy run this morning with the Circle and Steve. Started at the DC and then warmed up to Bloomington around to Clyde's house. I learned while running the 11 miles I was in the presence of two published authors (Sir Clyde Behunin and Tier 1 David Holt). Motivates me to be a better writer myself. I have work to do.

Once we got to Clyde's house we all needed to shed clothing because it warmed up quite a bit. Took a Gu and got to 11 miles before starting the tough 10 mile section. My watch was freaking out so the guys had a 15 second lead on me. I wanted to run with them but knew 5:00/mile for the first mile wasn't working so I toned it down. Eventually caught up after a bit. We had to be creative and take it along the road rather than the trail due to construction. The road in front of Maverik dragged a bit but it went all right. I just wanted to feel controlled all run and be somewhat comfortable while pushing in the last 2 miles. Every mile was fairly even and then I went 5:33 and 5:27 on the last two miles. 5:36/mile for the 10 mile section. Felt strong throughout the run and another major confidence boost heading into Phoenix. Things are moving in the right direction.

Spent the rest of the day moving my parents into their new house. Very grateful for many of the XC/track boys who came and helped. It is very much appreciated! Another solid week.

Needed to sleep in this morning. Long night.

8.25 miles this afternoon with the boys. We did a 2 mile warm up, 5x1000m @ I pace with a 200m put in between and then a 2 mile cool down. Ran with the sophomore boys today and then pushed the last one with the seniors. 3:13, 3:12, 3:11, 3:12, 3:05. Decent splits for me. Actually felt okay.

Plyombata afterwards.

Tempo Tuesday with The Circle and James. James is rocking it out lately. It has been great to see.

Legs were still a little sore from yesterday but I told myself I wanted to just run off of feel today and see how it went. I knew on the warm up that I was wearing too much clothing. It got warm pretty quick. Eased into the 8 mile tempo section and only checked the watch once or twice. Ended up averaging 5:40/mile. That is about what I am shooting for in Phoenix. Not a bad morning workout with all things considered. I should probably not push a hard workout with the team the day before and see what happens. I think mentally it helps to push on tired legs though.

6 more miles this afternoon running with the girls on a trail on the Arizona Strip. It goes towards the back side of Little Black Mtn. Good run!

Really needed to get some sleep last night. Didn't get over to run with Clyde. 3 miles with the team this morning.

7.25 miles this afternoon. Ran the first part of the tempo run with Courtney and then finished off with the boys. The route the team does is not easy but is honest. Very impressed with how the team is doing right now. Excited to see what will happen this year. Core and stretching after wards. Perfect weather this afternoon.

Big boy run with Dave and Clyde this morning out on Utah Hill. Glad I put on my big boy pants and got a good night's rest. We ended up driving down a little farther than planned but the idea was to run up 12 miles and then push it back down to the car. It was a long drag to the top and to our surprise we ended up at 12.5 miles. Measuring distance in the car doesn't work. Took a Gu at the start and then again up at the top. Legs felt a little flat but I knew they would feel better once I got going.

Splits: 5:28, 5:22, 5:25, 5:21, 5:15, 5:09, 5:06, 5:06, 5:08, 5:06, 5:10, and 5:17 for a 5:14/mile average on the 12 mile section. I actually felt very relaxed throughout the tempo section and didn't feel like I was straining too much. I wish I could have finished a touch stronger on that last mile but the road leveled off and my legs were pretty trashed. Glad to get this workout out a few weeks out from Phoenix. 25 miles total for the day.

Might go out later for a walk or a short run to keep the legs loose. #Kroger#WesternFamily#EpicClyde

Solid week of running once again.

6 miles in the morning at the school. Ran with the kids for some of it and then added on. Legs are slightly trashed from Saturday still :)

Meetings all afternoon. Got out around 4pm and it was absolutely perfect. The weather this week is supposed to be great. 7 miles around by my parent's new house and then back through Little Valley to the high school. Perfect conditions except my legs were slightly tight still.

Clyde's loop from his house with Clyde and Steve. Legs felt much better this morning but still not 100%. We almost got sprayed by a skunk. We have had way too many close calls the last 3 months. It is bound to happen for one of us to get sprayed and when it does I plan on taking a day off of work.

Warm up and cool down with the team this afternoon as I timed them.

7.75 miles total this afternoon. Warmed up to our 2 mile Power Run route, jogged the loop once and then got started. Ran with Courtney today and was happy with how the team did. It is not an easy route and I was impressed with how well the team did. Cooled down back to the high school.

MTL with The Circle this morning. Started just with a short sleeve shirt and I am glad I did. Absolutely perfect morning. We decided to just keep a nice steady pace throughout the whole run. Felt great throughout the whole run. Hit 6:25/mile overall for 21 miles. Great conversation and always fun to be with the guys. Pushed it in the last mile. Excited for Phoenix.

Highlights from the run:

-Dodging soccer moms driving out to Staheli Farms. Literally 100s of cars on the road.

-Dave running down the road with his shirt off and swinging it around cheering for soccer at the soccer moms.

-Spending time with Clyde as the sunset came up.

Glad to have this week over. One or two more decent workouts and then I will see how it goes at Phoenix. Just need to be smart and run controlled. It will be a fun trip with the guys and our spouses.

8.5 miles with the team today. We were supposed to do repeats on the track but due to soccer we had to move them to the road. I ran with some of the boys on the first one (5:19) and then ran the next two with the girls (6:13, 6:04). We went slightly downhill and then back up along River Rd. Finished off with a fast 200 (30 seconds). Solid run for a Monday morning.

6.5 miles after practice to and from my parent's new house. Ended up going and helping my Dad with his garage. Fun little route to run from the high school over to the new house in Little Valley.

Big boy workout with the Circle of Trust and James. 4.4 mile warm up, 8 mile tempo, 4.4 mile cool down back to Clyde's house. My stomach was not feeling great at the start but I knew I needed to work through this. Stopped after the warm up for a VRPB and then got started on the tempo. Had to stop at 2.7 for another VRPB. Felt much better but stomach kept growling all during the tempo. Ended up with a 5:39 average. Nothing spectacular but it felt good to work through a bad patch with the stomach. Guess I will just try and lock into 5:40/mile next week and see what happens. Should be a fun trip to Phoenix.

5 miles in the afternoon with the girls on the trails behind the school.

Ran with the Circle and Riley Cook this morning from the DC. It was nice having him run with us. Great conversation and lots of laughing. Felt antsy this morning for some reason and I knew I needed to be home at a certain time so I needed to hurry home. 5 mile warm up on the Mayor's Loop and then went back up towards River Rd. and back to Man of War Rd. I needed to push the last 2 miles a bit to get home. 5:26 and 5:17 for the last 2 miles. Felt good. 14.6 miles total. Happy to be out with the guys again.

One week until Phoenix. Hope all goes well. I feel confident that I can run well down there.Should be exciting to see what everyone else does.

Big boy run this morning with the Circle. Did our old tempo loop but just 5 miles of tempo instead of the usual 8. Started out and hit 5:23 for the first mile and just kept it locked in around there. 5:26/mile overall for the 5 miles. Felt good. I guess this is the last workout before Phoenix. I am curious to see how everything goes.
