Ran over into Santa Clara with blue skies and the temps being just a little cold.  Great day for a run.  Half way in to the run I stopped at a river and threw rocks to break the ice.  Not sure why I did that but it was fun.  6:26/mile.  The pace was honest and a great start to 2011.  Hope I can accomplish my goals this year.  2010 was having the legs really get used to running again.  Happy New Year everyone!!!

6 miles this morning in 2-3 inches of snow.  Yes, it snowed in St. George.  It was pretty fun running in this kind of weather.  I don't get many opportunities to do this.

6.15 miles over into Santa Clara and back.  I was relaxed on the run until a pitbull starting chasing me from someone's house.  I went anaerobic for a while just to make sure I didn't get eaten.  I was upset because the owners didn't even do anything.  I averaged 6:07/mile.  Yes, I was not very happy.

4 miles in the cold morning.  It was really chilly but glad to get a run in.

8.60 miles this afternoon.  I hurried home today and did a speed workout from my house over through Santa Clara.  The plan was to do 1 mile easy and then 1 mile hard.  I wanted to hit the faster mile under 5:20 pace.  My splits were 5:13, 5:10, 5:19, and 5:19.  The last two were on a slit up hill but I pushed through it.  I averaged 5:56/mile for the entire run.  Nice to get a solid workout in.

Cool down around the neighborhood after wards.

Slept in this morning because I was up late with Katey's brother and wife playing games.  Plus it was too cold.

I ran with the kids this afternoon.  We looped around Webb Hill and then I tacked on a few more miles after wards.  7:14/mile overall.  A great way to end the day.

Slept in again so I ran 5 miles before the club run and then 8.60 miles with the guys.  We went and assessed the damage of the trail from the flood.  Absolutely incredible that the trail is completely gone in some sections.  Decent pace throughout and averaged 6:44/mile.  Nice afternoon.

Ran with Dave, Steve, Aaron, and Clyde this morning while learning the new SG Half Course.  It is a nice loop course and is pancake flat.  We kept it relaxed on the first loop and then did the 2nd loop quicker.  A couple miles at the end right around 5:30/mile.  6:28/mile for the entire run.  Good to run with the guys again.  A little chilly though.

Solid week and feeling stronger everyday.  Yeah!!!

Slept in this morning and just ran this afternoon.  I ran from the high school out towards George Washington.  I pushed the pace because I needed to get back for a conference call with Utah State.  I have a student teacher in my classroom for the next little bit.  It should be kind of fun.  8 miles at 6:03/mile.  Nice start to the week.

6 miles in the morning.  Ran into Santa Clara and back.  Kept it nice and relaxed.

6 miles in the afternoon with some of the kids after school.  The sun decided to stay away today so it was really cold.  We did 6 x 100m strides at the end.

I was not feeling that great this morning so I slept in.  My stomach was acting up during the day and I felt like I was going to get sick.  I was a little worried but ended up running with the kids this afternoon and started feeling much better.  We did 8 miles out towards George Washington at 7:07 per mile.  Glad that I am feeling better.  Hopefully I do not get sick.

6 miles in the morning over into Santa Clara and back.

6.10 miles in the afternoon with the boys.  We did the opposite route of Webb Hill and ended up doing 7:05/mile.  Warmer weather today.

9.30 miles during the club run.  Okay run with the guys.  The pace picked up at the end and I just wanted feeling it for some reason.  Hit 6:26/mile.  Probably too many miles today.  It happens.

6 miles this afternoon with some more of the boys.  It was 60 degrees and felt great today.  The extra long sweat ring on the shirt grossed them out and let me know it hasn't been this warm for a little while.  Took it out along River Rd. through the Industrial Park.  I wasn't able to see the new airport though.

I now am the proud father a one year old.  We celebrated Norah's birthday today.  Crazy it has been a full year since she was born.

Ran with everyone this morning at the DC doing the St. George Half Course.  Temps were a little warmer which made the run quite nice.  We kept the first loop fairly easy and then slowly did a mini progression run the last couple miles.  I pushed the end with Aaron and hit some fast miles.  6:38/mile.  Decent way to finish the week.  Nice to be running with the guys on a Saturday morning.

Nice and warm today (64 degrees!)  I ran out into Kayenta which is nice and hilly so I was curious to see how it would go.  I ran just over 10 miles at 6:33/mile.  I had 2 VRPBs and helped a little old lady find her dog groomer's house.  It was quite an eventful fun.

20 minutes of yoga later in the evening with Katey.

I started get a head cold last night and it didn't get better through out the night.  I couldn't sleep and I guess I kept Katey up tossing and turning.  I bagged the run this morning and drank a lot of fluids throughout the day to see if it got any better.  The weather was nice but I decided to hit the treadmill inside to see if I could sweat it out.  I did 2 at 7:03/mile, 2 at 6:00/mile, 2 at 5:27/mile, 1 at 5:12/mile, and 1 mile cool down barefoot.  All the football players were looking at me like I was crazy but oh well.  I hope I cleared everything out.  I felt good throughout the run but will have to wait and see how everything feels tomorrow.

Still a head cold today and only a little better.  I ran with some of the boys this afternoon.  We ran from the school over into Bloomington and then back along the trail.  We looped into Bloomington Hills and then back up along the golf course.  A little windy today but it felt great to have some nice sunshine again.  7:10/mile.

Hopefully I get better by Saturday.  We will see.  I might just use it as a nice training run.  I will have to see how the next two days go.

6 miles in the afternoon with the kids at the high school.  I had the team doing 1000m repeats on the track but I helped a boy who is coming back from injury with a little workout.  Did a few pick ups but nothing crazy.  7:18/mile.

9 miles at the club run.  Good to run with Dave, Clyde, and Dustin.  Nice weather and ran the from the DC and did part of the course backwards.  Kept the conversation nice and averaged 7:09/mile.  Nice way to end the day.

Ran the half today and was not sure how it was going to go because of the head cold all week and lack of speed training.  I was shooting for 1:12-1:13 with not feeling 100% and felt like I could handle that.

The gun went off and just kept everything nice and relaxed.  I felt good through the first lap and was running mainly with Dave and Clyde.  I extended a slight lead of only a couple seconds and hit mile 9.5 and my nose was clogged and I could feel the effects of the head cold really kicking in.  I was right on pace through 10 with what I wanted today but the last 5k wasn't happening.  I wanted to be done but I decided to push through this.  To add injury to insult I had to maneuver my way through runners on the 2nd lap which made for quite an interesting finish.

I was happy to finish and push through the yucky feel of being sick.  Happy to see many other bloggers run so well.

I need to get my butt in gear now.  No questions asked!

6 miles in the morning over into Santa Clara and back.  7:13/mile.  Nice start to the week.  Need to make sure I keep hitting a decent morning run.

6 miles in the afternoon with some of the boys on the Reverse Foothill Loop.  I am having the kids name the runs now so no one gets confused.  Nice temps and good conversation.  7:20/mile.

20 minute yoga this evening with Katey.  Fun stuff!

Legs are a little sore from Saturday but not bad.  My head cold is a little better but still not 100%.  Should be a good week.

6.50 miles in the afternoon with some of the boys.  I had them do a little speed on the track while I just relaxed.  I warmed up and cooled down with them.  I finished with 6 x 100m strides on the track.  7:37/mile.

Went and did a track workout at the high school track this morning.  I know I need to hit some faster stuff on the track.

I did a 2 mile warm up, 4 x 1000m with 200m recovery, 4 x 400 with 400m recovery, and then a 2 mile cool down.  I did the 1000s in 3:07, 3:06, 3:05, and 3:06.  The 400s were 1:11, 1:11, 1:10, and 1:10.  Legs felt good this morning and I was happy to hit a solid workout.

Temps felt nice this morning.

3 more easy miles this afternoon.

I was up north taking care of some family things and stayed with my grandparents who live in Huntsville so I could run part of the Ogden Marathon course.  I ran with Ben VanBeekum today and it was good catching up with him.  We started at 7:30am and it was a balmy 5 degrees.  We ran up towards the monastery and then along the marathon course over towards Eden.  This section of the marathon has some good rollers so I was excited to see what would happen.

We did a 4.35 mile warm up and then did 3 x 2 miles with one mile recovery in between each set.  I had frost all over my eyelashes and eyebrows so I was curious to see how the splits would pane out.  Here they are: 1st set - 5:22, 5:25, 2nd set - 5:21, 5:38 (3 decent hills on this section), 3rd set - 5:26, 5:29.  We then cooled down back over to my grandparent's house.

I was very happy with the times especially with how cold it was.  The sun came out eventually and by the time we finished the run it warmed up to 8 degrees!  Really happy about taking a warm shower after wards!

Solid week of running.  Happy to get 2 solid speed workouts in.  Need to continue this.

6 miles in the morning over into Santa Clara.  Had to make a quick stop at the parent's house to take care of some business.  6:59/mile.  Little bit of wind this morning.

6 more miles this afternoon on the treadmill at the high school.  It was windy and fairly cold so I ran inside.  It was nice to look in the reflection to see how my form is.  I think it looked alright.  6:58/mile.
